Summary

This project was developed in two parts. In the first one a thorough literature review, which addressed both scientific and educational literature, gained insight into the current state-of-the-art regarding autonomous vehicles, the actual implementation of systems based on this technology worldwide and its expected future application and impact. In the second part, a MATSim scenario for the region Ile-de-France, has been built and some simulations were run. The simulations proved how autonomous vehicles could be used in the business area known as “La Defense” and the impact they could have on modal choices. However, they were mainly meant as proof-of-concpet and not supposed to deliver results usable for policy.
