Abstract

Railway services are vulnerable to delays due many different random influences. The uncertainty in the duration of railway operation process times offers the possibility to apply stochastic models to describe the propagation of train delays using historic train operation observations and external data sources. These predictions are essential for anticipative railway traffic control in real-time and an important service quality for passengers.
