Transport Planning

The Transport Planning Group under the direction of Prof. Axhausen focuses on the measurement and modelling of travel behaviour. Conceptualising choices as taking place for the long term and dependent on those for the short term, it has built up a set of method and data set to explore everyday behaviour. Recently new insight were gained in human activity spaces, variability of daily behaviour, route and mode choice and the relevant survey methods.

The core application frameworks are disaggregate microsimulation and aggregate equilibrium approaches. Building on large scale national and international models developed by the group innovative work has been undertaken for the estimation of central cost-benefit parameters, such as value of travel time savings, value of a statistical life saved and value of travel time reliability.
